Students in the Salt Lake City School District hail from around the world. Ethnic minorities make up 53% of our students, and the district serves a significant refugee population from Eastern European or African countries. Approximately 60% of our students come from low-income families, and just over 33% of them are learning English as a second language. We celebrate this diversity and believe it adds value as students learn first hand about other cultures.

Canyons School District

Canyons School District, the first new school district to be created in Utah in nearly a century, was forged by the will of the people in Cottonwood Heights, Sandy, Draper, Midvale and Alta in a November 2007 referendum vote. Our schools are rooted in a 100-year history of academic, artistic and athletic excellence. Beginning July 1, 2009, Canyons School District will build on that tradition while moving forward with a new vision for public education, centered on innovation, community engagement, customer service and outstanding student achievement.
The Canyons School District School District serves approximately 33,000 students at 44 schools:

Granite is the second largest district in Utah and is among the largest public school districts in the nation. Granite is also one of Utah’s largest employers, with more than 7,500 full and part-time employees. The district boundary encompasses 257 square miles.
 
Granite District is known for the academic, athletic, and artistic achievements of its students. Granite has also been nationally recognized for teacher professional development programs and the economic efficiencies of its administration.
 
In addition to its quality education programs for students in grades K through 12, the district offers a variety of adult and community education courses.
